Higgins, John [67 years]

Labourer, d 9 Feb 1906 of leprosy; cremated 10 Feb 1906, bd 1 Jun 190635 at WPQS. [FRE76/06].

The West Australian newspapers of 26 Feb 1903, p7 and 23 Feb 1903, p5 describes Higgins' living conditions at Woodman Point as a two room structure on the beach, in the centre of a sandy patch of land enclosed on three sides by a galvanised iron fence, and on the fourth side by the stone wall of the quarantine station, his 'banishment from the sight of his fellow men,' and a plea to make him more comfortable.
